"Never trust a ventriloquist or a barber". Edgar Bergen's ventriloquist sucks much of the comedy out of this WC Fields vehicle
20 October 2020
Larsen E. Whipsnade (WC Fields) runs a travelling circus, but is in debt. Thieves steal his money and a ventriloquist in the circus, Edgar Bergen (as himelf) and his dummies Charlie McCarthy and Mortimer Snerd play off against Whipsnade, especially as Edgar tries to woo his daughter.

Despite some classic one liners from Fields, this is one of the more disappointing of Fields vehicles with Bergen stealing much of the show and sucking most of the comedy out of the film, giving Fields less screen time.
