Nick Deezy (Jeff Goldblum) and Sylvia Pickel (Cyndi Lauper) are two of the psychics being studied by Dr. Harrison Steele (Julian Sands). Nick gets vibes from his touch. Sylvia has a spirit guide named Louise. Harry Buscafusco (Peter Falk) hires Sylvia to find his missing son and she recruits Nick.
This is trying to be Romancing the Stone (1984) with Peter Falk trying to be Danny DeVito. It's fun to try but there are some elements are inferior. Falk is not quite the comedic power of DeVito. The Goldblum Lauper pairing doesn't have the required heat. They do have a fun quirkiness that keeps it from falling flat. There is a few fun scenes but in the end, this doesn't have enough. It's a close call but it's not enough.
