Against all odds
21 July 2020
The "Boy who harnessed the wind" is a true story about William Kamkwamba a boy from Malawi, Africa. The movie narrates the fight against all odds that William Kamkwamba undertook amidst poverty and starvation to provide water to his family & community for farming during a severe drought that stuck the country in the early 2000s.

The touchy tale is directed by Hollywood actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, will definitely make us remind that how privileged we all are. Much of the movie and the screenplay is on poverty and the struggles of the poor of Malawi, which is well written indeed and strikes a cord with the viewers. Chiwetel Ejiofor's acting is outstanding as the father of the young boy but same cannot be said about his direction as it a bit weak in certain moments. Some of the support cast have done some exceptional work. Cinematography, editing music, sound design and costumes were all good However production design could have been a bit better.

"The boy who harnessed the wind" despite some minor shortcomings is a brilliant movie and a must watch for people of all ages and races. The triumph against severe odds of a young Malawi boy will inspire us all around the world. It will also leave us some very important lessons in life.
