Garbo looks ravishing as the wild child with a heart of gold who allows her name to be slandered in order to preserve her drunken brother's undeserved adulation of his fraudulent pal. Gilbert is content to play second fiddle as Garbo suffers in luxury. Slick entertainment that knows exactly what it is trying to achieve and does so sublimely.
