Review of Risk

Risk (I) (2018)
10/10
Short film which packs a big punch. You'll definitely remember watching this.

I know from the posters this was a short film about someone's wife entering a MMA fight and everyone trying to talk her out of it.

And I was sort of rooting for her; to do her own thing; not to be pressured by her friends and family to give up; not to be forced to quit by her husband. I really wanted her to prove them, and jeering gym-jocks, that they were all wrong.

As the fight-night gets closer, small things become seemingly more significant (the bell ringing in the pub sounds a lot like the start of a fight). And I did find myself absorbing some of their concerns. Her friends are concerned, because they love and care for her, right? Her husband is concerned for her ... or is it more for himself?

But if you think you can imagine how the story pans out, think again. It's genius.

It left me thinking about it, long after the credits rolled.

For a film that lasts only 10 minutes or so, it really packs a punch.

There are some films that when you see them a second time, maybe some years later, you might say to yourself "I can't remember if I've seen this film before?"

Not this film. You'll remember this film.

You'll Definitely remember this film.
