Australian troops get lured and pinned down at the Long Tan rubber plantation on August 8, 1966. The film is based on a true story and most of the production is gunfire and guys getting killed. There is some early character build-up and a performance by Little Pattie (Emmy Dougall) an Australian pop-star who was actually there and eventually married one of the boys in the band.
The title comes from the request for artillery fire which was required to be "danger close" because of the proximity of the enemy. For some reason, the battle didn't make that great of a film. Maybe if they had shown part of it from the NVA view.
Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.
