Dennis Vincent is a dedicated man

Rage of the Mummy is, at best, a movie honoring this classic genre. Vincent obviously loves these movies and kudos to him for creating this labor of love. With that said, the budget was minuscule and it shows. Also, I am always wary when the same person directs, writes, acts and produces a movie not necessarily due to budget restrictions, think Tarantino, but because that is a sign of no compromise. Compounding this is that Vincent has 10! additional credits, 10! Collaboration would have helped in this case. Overall, I really liked the movie. It certainly kept my attention. The animated transition pieces were an innovative way to tell big chunks of story. They were just clumsy looking, the composition was just off. The acting as expected but the sound was terrible. The makeup laughable...I could go on. But the one thing that was over the top awful is, unfortunately, central to the entire move. The damn Mummy costume was atrocious. What kind of mummy is wrapped in a 2 piece set? And how do wrapped strips end up as BAGGY and ill fitting it looks like the Mummy lost a lot of weight and needs a tailor! And boots! On this costume issue, I must point out that a zipper is visible down the back of the Mummy in the original so I realize the difficulty but it at least it was one piece!
