Kael stirred up a lot of energetic responses to her criticisms. Admiration, hatred, controversy. This biodoc lacked the spice of her writing style. I could've used some highlighted printed descriptions to get the feel of how it was to read her stuff. And a little more of her background---some photos of her family in Petaluma California, circa 1919, when she was born. More film of San Francisco in the 30s and 40s.
More on the Citizen Kane kerfuffle--(what she did and didn't do). And it could have at least mentioned the name of the David Lean film Kael excoriated (Ryan's Daughter).
