Although the comics had an excellent style, the TV adaptation just isn't capable of presenting them in the same way, despite it trying to. Sure there are some brilliant moments and heartfelt scenes, but most of them fall short of interesting and carry little emotional meaning. It was difficult to connect or feel sympathy for many of the characters, as they appear far too narcissistic and incompetent to gain any admiration.
It does hook you in though with a rather compelling premise, so overall worth a watch, but don't have very high expectations.
