Twinkle All the Way (2019 TV Movie)
2/10
A silly Christmas mess
23 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Lifetime released 27 films for its 2019 Christmas marathon, so statistically some of them are going to be bad. Anyway, say what you want about "Twinkle All the Way," but its title is at the very least, interesting. The film, alas, is not. It is an unintentionally humorous disaster that manages to be boring and stupid in equal measure.

A single mom and a single dad help each of their daughters prepare for a Christmas pageant at school. He runs a holiday planning business and she is a wedding planner. The actors played by Ryan McPartlin and Sarah Drew are individually alright. For a romantic comedy they don't seem to have any kind of momentum together. They seem enthusiastic for the roles of Henry and Cadence yet they don't mesh well together. When they finally do get together at the end, their union feels forced and joyless.

There are several funny weird things about this film. Henry and his brother happen to keep several Christmas artifacts in their warehouse that are too large to be regularly used (the three ornate horse drawn carriages that can't be used as intended come to mind). He also has a Christmas Rube Goldberg Machine that can instantly wrap presents which is mentioned once and never seen again. Henry also has the ability to make a wedding cake in under an hour in a school cafeteria with only the ingredients already there!

For all of Henry's abilities, the film focuses on the boring love story and the unnecessary dialog between the two daughters. This film takes the cute little girl trope to an extreme. The girls are adorable and the film does nothing with them other than display them in cute outfits. It is really boring for those who have seen many of these films. Since I was more bored than I laughed, I will give it two stars.
