The Purge: 7:01am (2019)
Season 2, Episode 10
9/10
It's not perfect but it's pretty damn close

So I'll keep this spoiler free but this series has done nothing but surprise me. When I watched the first three episodes I didn't expect much. Maybe because I wasn't into the idea of it being based off purge. Disclaimer I'm huge fan of the purge franchise as a whole but a lot of the time the content is usually lacking in some way. You know, bad acting, too much obvious racial politics, plot holes etc. But this series really built up well.

I'll list some cons first. Slow burner for sure but I was addicted by the 4th episode. Bad acting at times but not from the main cast. I also think it would have done better as a feature film or in 1.5hr segment episodes. And unless I'm missing something several stories that weren't concluded.

Anyway, this finale was really intense to watch. I feel character arch's conclude well but left space for another series which I'm really hoping for. With the same story and cast please! Lots of excellent action scenes, I sometimes felt like I was watching a Hollywood film. I was disappointed with the ending in some ways as I was expecting a typical predictable ending and you don't get that. You'll see why that's disappointing when you watch. Lastly, this series is better than any other Purge offering. They're all dull in comparison, I hope this continues and is included in the main film series. Also very happy this is available on prime video in the UK.

Give it watch and stick through it. I almost gave up very early on as I wasn't set on the idea but it works better than any of the previous Purge films or concepts.

Ps. Maybe I enjoyed it so much because I wasn't expecting to at all? Anyway. Still going down as one of my favourite tv shows of all time (S2 only!)
