. . . of cannibalism or some sort of nefarious trafficking, just because the first title character began her career as a dog, and now in BETTY BOOP WITH HENRY THE FUNNIEST LIVING AMERICAN she's selling canines for two bucks each, I personally never have found "Henry" to be very humorous. Growing up exposed to a family newspaper apparently published by a time capsule, Henry's strip was squeezed in among the color offerings every Sunday, right between "Dick Tracy," "Orphan Annie," "Judge Parker," "Alley Oop," and "Brenda Starr." (Apparently Henry was considered to be "comic relief" from all the Real World depredations of "Prune-face," "Daddy War-bucks," "Sam Driver" and "Hank"). However, it's important to remember that mutts became the main delicacy of the Asian diet thanks to "Betty Boop's" Fido-like origins. This provided "Chow" chow with the sort of "sexy" quality that appealed to Eastern tastes, which is why dog-napping remains rampant even Today across the USA to fulfill orders pouring in across the Pacific.
