Extinct or Alive (2018– )

Warning: Spoilers
I like the show and I like the host. His passion is contagious.

However, being Taiwanese, I did find his episode in Taiwan somewhat disappointing, which led me to wonder how people from the other countries he visited feel like in those episodes.

The "drunk porters" he met there were from native Taiwanese tribes, and yes the tribes are known to drink a lot, it is normal in their culture. Dr. Chiang tried to tell Forrest this, and explained why it is important to look at things from the tribe's perspective, but Forrest completely discarded the advice and was straight out rude to the people who owned and lived on this land for thousands of years. In the show he had said that the civilization expanding into the nature is the biggest cause of extinction, which means he should also understand that "people from the cities, with their governmental regulations" hold no moral high ground on this topic, and coming in to tell the natives how to live their life is just arrogant.

It has to be a conversation, and people like Dr. Chiang understands and works hard on having the conversation for decades. It's disappointing because I think he does understand this type of nuances like he did with the Zanzibar episode, but Forrest did not show the respect in this episode at all.

Overall I still find the show interesting and educational.
