Fun, Corny and Cute, What's not to like
30 November 2019
If you want a film that takes itself seriously, don't watch this one, If you want entertaining and escapism, this is a good start.

Several people have slated this movie, why ?? It is not meant to be a serious movie, it is played, very well, tongue-in-cheek, not camp (as some people have stated), camp being a kind of gay attitude, lets be fair, there is no gay-ness in this film, it is all very heterosexual, starting with the Man of Bronze himself, played with aplomb by the handsome and muscular Ron Ely, he is not the best actor but does well with this role, a similar state of affairs with the supporting actors, and littered with a few female beauties. One thing it does have are some modern ideas, ecological, and environmental, also humanitarian, e.g. Captain Seas rehabilitation into a good citizen in Doc Savage's hospital, ahead of its time I think.

The film is well made, and the effects, although a bit cheesy, are quite good for the day, but it is the story that pulls it all together, quite a strong one, if you used the same story but played it serious, as a kind of super-hero movie it would still work well, maybe a good tip for a re-make with modern effects, possibly with Ron Ely playing his father !!

Its fantasy fun, and does travel well, I watched it yesterday November 2019, and it still plays well, and as it is quite visual, would play well in other countries, not just English speaking, it did not do well at the US box office, so I would be interested in how it did in other countries and what kind of reaction it got. It is good clean fun. Re-make Please.
