Dire Wolf (2009)
5/10
Enjoyable schlock

Warning: Spoilers
DIRE WOLF is one of Fred Olen Ray's better movies and a lot more entertaining than the average rating would have you believe. It's a straightforward tale in which a genetically engineered wolf escapes from the usual top secret government laboratory and goes on the rampage in the local woods. Thankfully it makes a habit of killing and eating all of the cast's more annoying characters, and Ray doesn't skimp on the many gore sequences in which entrails fly all over the place. Leading the investigation is GREASE 2 star Maxwell Caulfield alongside a usual cast of B-movie types (and Ray's lucky charm, Gil Gerard in a cameo appearance). It's schlock for sure, but enjoyable schlock at least.
