If you enjoyed Shaun of the Dead, you'll probably like this show as well, as it incorporates the same sort of comedy featuring a variety of quirky/clueless (but likable) characters who eventually realize that a zombie apocalypse is occurring. If you don't know what Shaun of the Dead is, you'll probably miss out on a lot of the zombie-genre jokes and references in general, which is unfortunate because they were pretty funny.
The script is excellent so far, and the acting and filming are good - all much better than I usually see from the UK for something that isn't a historical drama. I also enjoyed the gaming-culture references in the first episode, though those were less essential to understanding the humor.
Some people are puzzled about the 1 star ratings, however that's pretty common when certain genres have a diverse cast, especially like in this one where the 4 main characters thus far are two young men of color, and two young women. IMDB finally started removing the overtly bigoted reviews/rants, so the people who makes those reviews now remain vague (as seen here in other reviews), and are often solicited via social media platforms from people who haven't watched the show at all.
