"Sorority Nightmare" (a.k.a., "Dark Pledge," a.k.a., "Twisted Sisters") is a tragic tale about secrets. Early in the film, Miss Sarah Walsh reveals her deepest, darkest secret as part of her initiation into the Psi Kappa sorority. At the close of the film, Miss Walsh's new computer ap invites participants to reveal their secrets privately online. The revelation of the president of Psi Kappa brings the melodrama to its painful conclusion.

Unfortunately, there was very little that was credible in this ridiculous story. In other Lifetime films on sororities, the young daughter is following in her mom's footsteps by joining the same sorority as a "legacy" member. This film appears to follow the pattern as Miss Walsh's devoted mother Alice was a former sister of Psi Kappa. But as opposed to bringing the mother and daughter together, the sorority experience for young Sarah drives a wedge into the relationship with her mom.

The film did not explore in depth the circumstances of the death of Sarah's sister Jill, who died in an auto crash when Jill was picking up Sarah from a party in which Sarah was wasted to the point of vomiting. The filmmakers needed to explore the impact of that tragic occurrence both on Sarah and her mother.

The main hurdle confronted by Sarah at college is the tyrannical president of the sorority, a nefarious creature named Daisy, who will stop at nothing in controlling the lives of her "sisters." At one point, Daisy forces a sister to eat a cigarette after the student was caught smoking. Daisy micromanages the assault of Sarah's former roommate Jodi, and she tears Sarah away from her studies with a barrage of sorority commitments.

After the pill-popping Daisy dies of an apparent overdose, Sarah is arrested on chargers of murdering her. The film then exceeds the limits of credulity when Sarah and her mother make use of Sarah's new ap to catch the murderer of Daisy. In the ancient Greek theater, the "deus ex machina" was the contrived ending that was imposed on the play, with the typical appearance of a god coming down from the sky to effect a final resolution. In this film, the god is s the internet where social media permits the use of Sarah's new ap.

There were far too many loose ends that were never wrapped up in the film. It was not believable that Liam would have recovered enough from his serious knee injury to be racing around the track. And it was not clear how Mr. Kent ("Professor Perv") was still teaching at the college after Sarah had him fired by Dean Conway after Mr. Kent placed his hand on Sarah's shoulder. Above all the deus ex machina of the computer ap was ludicrous to the virtual point of comedy.
