Pretty Good for a Sequel

I actually thought for a second movie they did alright on this one and I'm a really harsh critic. For a film that's over 30 years old it still entertains. Now for my breakdown: The first story was probably my favorite. It was about an old wooden statue of an Indian chief coming life for revenge. "Chief Wood'n Head" systematically slaughters three young scumbags who viscously robbed and murdered the elder couple who owned the general store where was located. Like I said, good ol' fashioned, righteous vengeance and it was good to see George Kennedy again. The second story dealt with some young people who made some seriously bad decisions. They started out their trek to the lake getting high and swerving all over the road. Then they all rushed and swam out to floating, flimsy wooden platform in freezing cold lake. Soon they noticed an "oil slick" (basically a rubber blob) approaching them in the water. It doesn't take long to figure out that this thing is alive and attacks living flesh! One by one they're picked off until the last makes a break for it and.... The last installment deals with an arrogant, rich woman who is just leaving a rendezvous with a male prostitute who she promises to someday buy a Mercedes. As she drives home on the interstate she drops a cigarette and then loses control of her car, hitting a hitchhiker on the side of the road. From then on chaos ensues and the line "Thanks for the ride lady!" will stay with you for a while. I really enjoyed this old flick from yesteryear. Today's directors and producers could learn a thing or two from scare films like this. It's not all about CGI or being PC, just good story telling.
