A good movie on Bobby Debarge. Roshon Fegan did a great job portraying Bobby Debarge. No, it's not Bobby's entire life but snippets of his life. There's no way every facet of Bobby Debarge entire life could be captured in less than 2 hours nor over the course of three days for that matter. We will never know everything because Bobby is not here to tell it himself only those that are left behind have their version of who he was and even then it's their interpretation. We do know he was born the second oldest child in a large family with a white father and a Black mother. Bobby, his siblings, and mother were all severely abused by the father. The mother was a battered woman, extremely religious, and spent a great deal of time in church. All the siblings have musical talent, but being severely abused Bobby and his siblings developed drug addictions. The movie shows some of Bobby's behaviors and his use of cocaine and crack but by no means all of the drugs he used during the course of his lifetime. The clothing and wigs are all representation of the late 70's and the 80's. If you compare clothing and wig standards from then to now then you fail to recognize all the various styles from those eras. Just take a look at all the various album covers, shows, hell even old family albums they exist. I could care less about the wigs and the clothes it's a good story. Bobby lived a fast and hard lifestyle again only snippets are in the movie. We will never know every person he had sex with, used drugs with but considering the years of childhood trauma his behaviors are not surprising. Bobby was a singer, writer, musician, son, brother, husband, father but most important of all he was a person that left a legacy of music that will live on forever. Don't let the criticism of the movie "The Bobby Debarge Story" stop you from seeing it. You Must See It For Yourself.
