This is one of those movies that leaves you groaning at the screen "Don't do that!"
I hate the term Coming of Age movie, but if it's a term this would be a movie it would fit. It's a gritty gross feeling movie because everything's dark and has that grimy feeling when the camera makes everything look worse than it is and they try to make the kids look like they live in a dead-end situation that they can't get out of. Everything is so depressing from the school to home life even when they go out to have fun. And what you've got here is a young man who's lost his eye and we don't even know why they never tell us. And then there's a young lady who's a rebel from her clothes to her bleached out covered with teal hair who is overweight and according to what I read 250 lb. And then her cousin is actually the boy's best friend and he's gay. But the worst part of all is he's one of those gays that has to throw it in your face all the time and make descriptive comments about what he wants to do two other men should make you uncomfortable. Because the straight friends in the group don't go around making graphic comments about what they want to do 2 their boyfriends and girlfriends and it leads to really bad feelings in the group so that they don't want to hang around with the gay best friend / cousin. The guy and the girl end up in a very serious relationship very much and love but she ends up accepted to college back on the other side of the country and has to leave just a couple of months into being out there. When he goes out to visit her to set up getting ready to move out there, she has a surprise for him and he has a surprise for her, he's gotten himself a prosthetic eye and she's lost 50 lbs. But more than just losing 50 lbs, she's also changed her rebellious ways which is what made him fall in love with her.
I always refuse to put in spoilers because I don't want to ruin a movie for people, but I'll say this much, other people they went to high school with somehow end up in her woven in their college life and end up causing a lot of trouble. And in the end it's a horrible ending, you don't know what's going to happen to any of them they leave you completely hanging with a horrible ending I don't recommend seeing this movie I think it's awful there's just too much where they try to get you invested in these characters then they twist your guts to make you angry and then they just dumped you in the end. Watch with caution.
