Eerie God complex story has a surface not fully scratched
25 May 2019
An American sci-fi horror; A story about a scientist who discovers a drug that enables him to see through objects after administering it as eye drops. His new-found power brings benefits to his job as a surgeon, but as the drug becomes more addictive and he sees more and more, problems arise. Both shocking and satisfying it is a film that keeps good pace with some interesting effects through Spectarama, though its use of the technique is a little repetitive. A lot is tantalizingly unexplored so the film peters out a little in the third act when the novelties are exhausted. Ray Milland's performance as the tortured scientist provides the film with a believable lead and a solid foundation in this B movie with a distrubing and resonant ending.
