Review of Dark Sense

Dark Sense (2019)
9/10
Great Scottish Movie

Well done Scotland! They found a lot of Scottish actors/actresses that don't have Glaswegian accents to such a degree 90% of the English speaking world wouldn't have a clue what they were saying!

The story is well constructed and a reasonable representation of the First And Only original story by Peter A. Flannery. Aside from the forced 'deviations' that every film version is forced to take to condense a weeks reading into a one or two hour slot it does well to get the critical and key moments covered.

You can see pretty early on that this wasn't a high budget movie production but it really didn't need it, it works as is! The scenes are plausible and the settings well selected. The darker scenes, although necessitated by the storyline, could have been slightly better lighted or atmospherics would have improved them but as these are few it doesn't detract from great acting and the essence of the story.

The acting is actually exceptionally good and everyone gets the requisites that the acting is providing. The scene where they cut back to the control room group. mouths agape and dumbstruck, is priceless!

Synopsis: great movie if you like crime drama with a little extra thrown in, not recommended for the faint hearted some of the 'nasties' are pretty convincing and may make you squirm! (isn't that what they are supposed to do?). I recommend this as a 'casual view' crime drama that will leave you feeling like you just watched a movie with a conclusion as opposed to the all too frequent 'hollow feeling' and lacking of an end!.
