Review of Off Season

Off Season (I) (2017)
10/10
Intense and gripping

I really enjoyed this film. It captures the true essence of the characters and offers a gritty story line that you don't expect from a Martha's Vineyard locale. I've seen the father, Chance Kelly, in other roles and he is an excellent actor. The supporting cast really gave the story shape. Some movies try to overdue it with complex and twisting plots that ultimately just seem unrealistic. This one is right on point and the director nails the ending. I need to find the music - unbelievably deep and soulful songs. A twist on what you might expect from this genre but really well done.
