Review of Chittagong

Chittagong (2012)
8/10
A forgotten tale, depicted well!
11 April 2019
What I call professional, sensible and responsible period film making ! The cinematography, the make-up, the traditional Indian(Bengali) costumes, the character roles played honestly by the actors, almost NO masala, Bedabrata Pain's (probably) research and direction efforts make the film a pensive but inspirational experience. The movie doesn't seem to plagued by much historical inaccuracies except 1)Surya Sen was betrayed by his associate, tortured by the English and hanged while he was unconscious 2)Avoidance of showing any atrocities committed by the Police(but that is welcome as it spares user the desolation of a bloody History). The lyrics and the soundtracks seems to be a bit irrelevant and unimpressive. To sum up, a lightweight but effective patriotic film.

Note : Thanks to the Congress Party which whitewashed the History books from the academic school studies, the youth of India never knew much about the revolutionary Indians but it's essential that such movies come up, are marketed well and the masses prefer them over unrealistic, dumb, masala movies.
