Empowering AF.

At times it didn't feel like I was watching a Marvel movie; since they are meant mainly to be entertaining, they don't always have those touching moments that tug at your heart nor do they carry a message about the ever-present issues in society. Captain Marvel has both, which is why it almost seems like a stand-alone movie, even if it ties into a larger universe. Visuals are incredible as always, especially the bits about Carol's past. Carol and Fury make an awesome pair.

Reading all the comments saying that Captain Marvel is overpowered is so disappointing to me, especially since I'm also a Star Wars fan and since people are putting out the same comments about Rey. It is annoying because you have male characters like Thor and Superman, and basically all the Sith men, who are insanely powerful as well but never get called overpowered. This is clearly an issue of gender, and as a woman, I find it incredibly disheartening, especially since these two franchises bring so much joy to me, and there are so few female characters as strong as them to look up to. I can only hope that the future generations of men will not be raised like this. Girls should also be able to have superheroes that look like them, to look up to.
