It seems like every month now I'm tackling a new film about dogs or that caters to dog lovers. 'Dog Days' was a small independent film that largely went under the radar in 2018, but released to mixed reviews. It's full of cheese-ball writing, cringe worthy romances, and even mostly unearned emotional depth. If that's your thing, then by all means Dog Days will please most rom-com casuals. But even I'm not sure this film passes the Bechdel Test, as almost every scene features women talking about men, and rarely about their own lives outside of romance. Not to say there aren't some incredibly sweet moments, especially with our four-legged best friends all over the film. For me, the characters were spread far too thin for my personal preference.
