Warning: Spoilers
I'm not going to be as harsh as some of the reviewers for this episode and the entire final season (if it is final, you just never know with the X-Files). The show had a dynamic run for at least the first seven seasons, and I was a pretty devoted fan throughout. The finale here had you coming out with the same kind of ambiguity and lack of closure that was a staple of the series, and did offer the prospect of a continued run if the principals are somehow able to come together. It would be interesting to take a poll - is the Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davis) really dead, dead, dead, or is he comic book dead? Will Scully and Mulder find true happiness in a relationship riddled with controversy and false starts over the course of their twenty five year relationship? Will Scully carry her pregnancy to full term or will some other conspiracy intervene? The way the series was written, anything could happen and the possibilities are endless. But I would be content if the X-Files simply ended right here and basked in the glory of television history. Farewell X-Files, it's been a fun ride.
