Don't even dare to sing. Don't even dare to make a film like that again.

Warning: Spoilers
"Im weißen Rössl - Wehe Du singst!" is a German movie from 2013, so slightly over 5 years old and this one was directed by Christian Theede and runs for a bit over 1.5 hours. Itg is based on an operetta that I am not aware of, so I cannot really say how close it is to the original material. But I can say that this was really painful to watch. it is the story of a woman in her late 20s who works at an office and who just got out of a relationship and she ends up at a hotel in South Germany where she meets music, love and friendship. Well. I don't know what I can say here, what are really the worst moments of this film because there were so many and hardly a single good sequence. The music was not always crap, maybe that's a positive aspect I don't know. Here are some very cringeworthy moments. One would be the break-up scene and how it is all built up to with the female's idea he is going to propose. Then the two female friends sitting next table and yeah he does not see them right away of course. Or how a man working in an influential position at the hotel makes his relationship struggles so obvious to everybody, not just his colleagues, but also all the guests. Or how a Bavarian folk dance world championship takes place at the hotel out of nowhere because the story required it. Yeah it is not like you have to prepare such an event. And of course the two men longing for the female protagonist's affection do not only take place, but are on world class level. Or how the actual sequence there is more like a bizarre wrestling fight. Or how of course the male love interest immediately falls in love with the female main character the moment he sees her. Or... or... or... I could list another 1,000 example here, but I spare you that. You will recognize them immediately when you watch this film. Which you really shouldn't. Already because of the unbearably bad dialogue writing that sounds like taken out of the painfully cheasiest Middle Ages movie you could imagine, mostly by Licht's character. Now I mentioned already an actor and Tobias Licht may be known to some from German daily soap opera Unter Uns. His singing is tolerable. By the way, also on Unter Uns was the guy who played the female main character's ex boyfriend here. Funny how quickly she got over him when she intended to marry him isn't it. Okay what else? The main character at the center of sthe story is played by Diana Amft. Anybody who has seen Mädchen Mädchen knows what to expect and she is in general not a good actress at all. She fills a bit the niche of a younger Veronica Ferres these days, with Rosalie Thomass too. But Amft is ppainfully bad to watch. Oh yeah, another thing about the singing, she really is not a good singer, funny how they are trying to tell everybody ehs eventually is. Within days/weeks after she could not hit a single note, it is not only unrealistic, but ridiculous make-believe. And on a side-note about her singing/duet, what's the best way to get out of the vilalin#s trailer? Startg singing a duet and wait till you are teleported outside. Of course, he had no intention to call police afterward for whatever reason. or the bad lostg love story the villain gets... oh my. It's really really tough to watch this movie. There are even some laugh-out-loud moments for dialogs that were meant to be taken seriously, but really it's just impossible. Overall, there is no denying this film is a definite contender for worst German movie of the 2010s. It is a gigantic failure from every perspective and still wants to be taken seriously as a romance film and not just as that. No idea why somewhat talented actors like Karl or Rohde would agree to star in here. The moment they read the script, they should have thrown it away. Perhaps money was the factor? I don't know. But i do know that the film made some waves, not too many admittedly, because you don't get German musicals that often and honestly if they turn out like that quality-wise, then that's really a good thing I suppose. Highly, highly, highly (and I cannot emphasize that enough) not recommended. Kinda fitting too there is a Schweighöfer attached to this project too, even if it is not the son because that usually makes it obvious the film is going to suck. Wath something else instead.
