I'm So Sorry!
25 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I wanted to like/love this so much! My Family came in town the day before Christmas to watch this with me. I am sorry to say, it put us all to sleep! We were all struggling to stay awake. I didn't know that until we were outside the theater. I thought is was only me! That's really upsetting! I struggled to keep my eyes open wondering why my Nephew and Sister were leaning forward. Later I learned why- to stay awake! I did manage towards the end to see it through. I remember a lot of dark scenes- maybe that's why? Was it the movie itself? I'm 62. My Sister 63. We grew up with Mary Poppins. It's true as others have said, the music I can't remember- but in the theater it seemed the same music for the whole movie. Was I impressed by the production? Yes! I was awake for the ending, and the beginning... and I love Emily Blunt! Manuel Miranda was okay- but I'm not sure his screen presence worked and I can't tell you why? I thought the acting was good. Was it the story? Was there really a story? As far as I know the kids really didn't need Mary and maybe not the parents too for I know not what she did to help them! It's only at the very end the kite reveals it's secrets but what happened in between? Maybe I was asleep :( I wanted to see this movie! I love and can sit through the original without falling asleep. P.S. Dick Van Dykie was wonderful! Maybe it was a good thing Julie didn't join in I'm sorry to say.
