SMUGGLERS' COVE is another Bowery Boys cheapie from the notorious Monogram director William Beaudine. This one feels exactly the same as all of the old 'haunted house' style comedies that inevitably starred Bela Lugosi and the like. The boys hole up at a remote seaside cottage that turns out to be the centre of a smuggling ring, and the hijinks go from there. It's cheap and rather mirthless, with lots of mugging actors running around and shouting a lot; not a film that's particularly dated well in the subsequent years.
