A lesson in civics everyone should watch

This movie did a good job of telling the story of a national tragedy. As an ex-patriot from flint, Michigan this is a personal issue for me. I do fault the production company for a few things. First of all they filmed the movie in canadia, not in flint, Michigan. This cost the movie some authenticity. Had they filmed in flint they would have pumped some much needed, money into the local economy, as well as garnering media exposure for their film. This was a made for TV movie on Lifetime, the television for women channel. The actresses that were cast to play the two white, female leads were were thinner and prettier than the women they were portraying. A blatant case of fat shaming and using sex appeal to sell their movie. They were more accurate in their choices for the women they cast to play the two, black female leads. Queen Latifah, as always, delivered a solid performance. Jill Scott playing Nayyirah Shariff's role was minimized. The woman was a driving force in the actual events yet her role in the movie was barely more than a supporting character. Subtle racism ? Things not in the film, possibly due to the time of the filming. Two mysterious deaths of people associated with the flint water dept. One of which has been confirmed as a murder, still an open investigation with no suspects. The State of Michigan distributed cases of bottled water to the local residents free of charge. This created another environmental problem. Millions of 20 ounce plastic bottles to clog our landfills. Why weren't five gallon, refillable bottles used ? One company hired to replace the water lines had it's equipment vandalized by locals, causing them to cancel their contract and leave the city. It's late into 2018 and the issue still isn't resolved. Most of our older cities in this country face the same problem. We have neglected our infrastructure for too long and it has become a health concern for the nation.
