This is a great film, with a mesmerisingly evil main character. A charismatic underworld figure who helps Jews for money, when in fact he is lining his own pockets and betraying them. But thats only half this film, the other half is about him being tracked down, and tried to be brought to justice, when he manipulates and foils his pursuers, leading to a shock ending. Based on a true story this feels like a gangster film in many ways, and it is largely held togethor by the terrifying and charming performance of the actor playing Riphagen, though this is overall a well crafted film.
