Let me begin by saying that I usually quite enjoy reality shows with this kind of format, such as Skin Wars. I'm also a fan of Kandee, so that gave me incentive to give this show a try. However, after having watched the first episode I felt very let down.
Laverne Cox as the host seems very stiff (not at all how I would have imagined her) and relies heavily on rather awkward lines ("puns"). She actually almost comes across as unlikable and cold. Such a shame..
Also, the contestants simply aren't all some of the absolute best in beauty as the show claims. I have an Instagram, I follow beauty influencers and make-up artists, so I know that there much better talent out there. I do not say this to be mean, it's just the reality of it. Some of the looks presented on the show were very basic and/or poorly executed.
All in all, the show just seemed quite forced and underwhelming. I might give it another episode, but I am not feeling hopeful about it.
