So far, crossovers with Arrow have been handled a little cackhandedly, but at the very least they do give you enough information in the pre-credits recap that the story will make some sort of sense.
Sadly, this is not the case with this episode. It starts off well enough for a crossover episode, but then it commits a cardinal sin.
"Continued on Arrow"
Yes. You have to tune into a completely different series 5 years in to find out how it continues. Not "ends", "continues". You apparently have to tune into yet another completely different series 2 years in to find out the end.
And by the next episode of The Flash, everything has evidently been resolved, and is never mentioned again. The only thing that's changed is that Cisco and Barry seem to have made up their differences. No idea how that happened-I guess we'll never know.
For those of us watching the show via syndicated broadcasts/streaming, I can honestly say this episode was a complete waste of time. Neither Arrow nor whatever the other series is called are available where I live, so the story will forever remain unresolved. I can only imagine how annoying the second and third parts must be to watch without the context of this episode.
Whoever thought that only making and broadcasting one third of a story was a good idea ought to be fired. Out of a cannon preferably.
