Bad Dialogue and Character Development

Warning: Spoilers
In "Chapter 6", Steve, Dustin, Lucas, & Max set a trap with chum, leading Dart to a dump in the hopes of destroying him. They quickly realize their mistake as Dart has grown and attacks them with some newfound friends. Meanwhile, Nancy & Jonathan help Murray make copies of the tape to release to the press. They spend the night at Murray's and end up in bed together. The Hawkins Lab can't figure out how to fix Will, although they now realize the full extend of Will's connection to the Upside Down and the monster creating the tunnels. He feels its pain and helps the monster set up a trap, killing the men sent into the tunnels with Dart & friends and a fog machine. They appear to be heading for the lab as we hit credits.

The dialogue in this episode was atrocious. The scene where Max & Lucas have a heart-to-heart on the roof of the bus was painful to watch; people don't talk like that, they don't reflect like that, especially children. There is no subtlety in this scene. It's suppose to develop the characters further but the Duffer brothers have no trust in their audience and decide to spell everything out for us so we don't have to do any critical thinking. Max's lines are unbelievable.

I'm not sure whether I love or hate the character of Murray. Brett Gelman is feeding us a enormous ham sandwich in his scenes; it keeps things interesting to say the least. But maybe his overacting is exactly what this show needs.

I feel like every episode I grumble about this but the 80's references and nudges need to stop. I was pulling my hair out when Nancy & Jonathan were doing the Indiana Jones bit where the two love interests talking to themselves, distraught in their rooms, only to emerge and see each other. Ugh...
