Unlike the two films (so far) of the new trilogy, Rogue One really felt like a Star Wars movie. Admittedly in this aspect it has the benefit of close plot continuity with A New Hope.
I'm also a big fan of Donnie Yen, so seeing him in a Star Wars film was fantastic. There are some great land and space battles, the heroine is well-acted and written, and there is a super awesome special treat at the end for lifelong Star Wars fans.
