Jolly Life (2009)
8/10
A Turkish Christmas Movie
26 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This is more of a New Years movie, but still season related.

A lovely story about a man struggling in life and getting a job as Santa in the mall to help people in his family. The movie is not a silly comedy. It has a very sad story but it is lightened up with some jokes. We get to laugh a bit when Riza practices his "Ho Ho Ho" Still we are watching it with a heart breaking for Riza and hoping that he makes it out of his problems.

Money is the greatest struggle in this movie but it also comes from people not trusting you or family not being there when one needs it. Riza seems to be the kindest man in his family. Just the right guy to be a Santa.

The ending is like a Christmas movie fairy tale when he finally breaks the problem with friends and family and has enough money to deal with it. There is even some magical snow at the end. And even though "Happy Life" was a scam, their slogan was true: Life can be beautiful if you are happy. And in the final scene Riza seems to be happy as his worries are gone, he doesn't even need honey. The audience can now just wish him his new year to be all very happy as well.
