Lady Gaga: Poker Face (2008 Music Video)
4/10
Proof that the 00s weren't too great either in terms of (commercial) pop music

Warning: Spoilers
As the title already suggests, these 3.5 minutes we got here are the music video for the song "Poker Face" by singer (and actress and style icon) Lady Gaga. This is from 2008, so it has its 10th anniversary next year and this is maybe the song that gave Lady Gaga his breakthrough that (luckily? unfortunately?) still has her in the headlines and releasing new songs until today. As for this song here, I don't think it has aged very well. The chorus is catchy admittedly, but that is really the only thing positive I can say here. These glasses where Gaga wants to make the impression that she is somewhat defining for pop culture is as cringeworthy as the idea itself. And the part where she raps a bit towards the end was downright bad. Same goes for basically the entire visual side that is all style and zero substance with Gaga apparently successfully hiding the emptiness of the entire thing behind heavy make-up, costumes and wigs. Well I can only say I don't think this was a good listen at all and an even worse watch to be honest. Thumbs-down from me and if it wasn't for the catchy chorus, I'd probably have given it an even lower rating. Don't check it out.
