Trash stays trash
16 September 2017
Warning: Spoilers
"Schaffe schaffe Scheiße baue" (Swabian approach to comedy is non-existent despite the title) is a German 1.5-hour film from 2001, so this one had its 15th anniversary last year already. It was made by the pretty prolific Eicher and Mayer and it is among the most known of their career. This film can genuinely be described as trash and it never aimed for anything more than that, which saves the film on some occasions and which is also the reason why I am a bit generous with my rating here. It never takes itself seriously and this results in some situations where I had to laugh, or at least smile a bit. The movie is incredibly over-the-top and unrealistic from start to finish, but it fits to the tone of it all. It's more of a collection of short films that are sometimes connected to each other and sometimes completely independent. Intertitles tell you when another sequence begins. The comedy is very sexual and also includes violence, so it is certainly not for everybody. We see of course a homeless guy on one occasion who gets beat up by a duo of police officers for having a boner. But after spitting a bit of blood, the bum is fine as if nothing happened at all, so the film is not about depicting suffering, just about depicting violence. The title sums up the obscenity part pretty well I guess. Oh yeah this film is part of a series of films, the middle part apparently and also among the most known from them all, and the maybe most known character in there is Kermet. It may have low production values, but for a trash film, it is somewhat decent still. Still trash stays trash and as a consequence this one gets a thumbs-down of course. Plot is almost non-existent, there is no creative story-telling or character writing at all and also the dubious business activities by the production company in charge of this one (Los Banditos Films) make it impossible for me to give a positive recommendation here. Watch something else instead.
