Warning: Spoilers
"Love Child" is a Canadian 22-minute short film in the English language. This one came out back in 1996, so it had its 20th anniversary already last year. Writer and director is Patrick Sisam and just like his child actor playing the lead character (Dov Tiefenbach) he is still active in film today 2 decades later without either of the two managing to really have a big breakthrough at any point. This film we have here is mostly known today for Neve Campbell who probably plays the most important grown-up character, a young woman in her early 20s who identifies as sexual desire for the teenage boy in the center of it all. Some interaction with her we see, but also some interactions with girls his age plus a fictitious sequence that shows us what the boy wants things to be like. Overall, in terms of both character development and story-telling, this film came a bit short without entering failure territory at least though. Still I must say that I found none of the aspects here really too interesting and neither acting nor directing managed to make a difference either. Gotta give this one a thumbs-down for now. Not recommended.
