The ending's not bad, but the rest's a waste of time

Warning: Spoilers
DEADLY SHAOLIN LONGFIST is a far below par Hong Kong kung fu film directed by Philip Chan, the well-known actor and former policeman. Chan did his bit as a star in the likes of HARD-BOILED and DOUBLE IMPACT and I've always enjoyed his presence on screen, although he brings very little to the director's role in this poorly conceived movie.

The story stars the unappealing Elton Chong and involves a businessman who becomes the target of some deadly rivals who have murder in mind. There's the inevitable beggar character in support and a bunch of heroes who end up teaming together to fight the big bad guys. The film has a wealth of fight scenes but none of them are very interesting and it only gets halfway decent right at the climax, with one big battle following another. The rest is a waste of time.
