‪1Night is the kind of movie that slowly builds to deliver an effective twist-ending without all the bells and whistles of gimmicky dramas. The film's premise is seemingly simple: a high school couple (played by Isabelle Fuhrman and Kyle Allen) falls in love on their prom night while another, older couple (played by Anna Camp and Justin Chatwin) attempts to rebuild their crumbling marriage by revisiting relics of their past. We get a film based on character exploration and big questions about love, forgiveness, and redemption are asked as we witness a new love form and an old flame rekindle. The film's tone, however, remains light throughout the runtime and a sense of innocence and nostalgia overrides any potential pretension. In the end, something magical happens; everything the viewer has witnessed up until that point is turned on its head and new questions are asked, new topics to be explored surface, and the viewer is left thinking: I NEED to watch that again! ‬
