'My Family' was a show really past its prime by this point. The kids have grown up, the house feels empty, and increasingly we wonder why Ben and Susan are still together, because they argue so much. Even the standard bed scenes are a rarity by this point.
This episode is weak, right down to the fact that it's very clearly two not really connected plots stuck together. Ben and Susan in one, Michael and Janey in another.
While the Ben and Susan story is OK, the one with the kids is shocking, right down the dream sequence and the fridge wearing a hat.
It must be hard to come up with new material for a show that's outlasted its premise, but by this point they were really struggling.
