"Ranveer Ching Returns" is a 5-minute live action short film in the Hindi language. It was released in August last year and managed more than 10 million clicks on Youtube in comfortably under half a year, so yes it generated a lot of attention for sure. But the quality is not the reason I think. The film spoofs Western (Indian/Native American) elements as well as Mad Max elements and many others despite the short runtime and it combines all this with the Bollywood approach that actors Ranveer Singh and Tamannaah Bhatia give it. However, the title confuses me a bit. I am not sure if there was a prequel to this one, but I can't find anything. That's not a loss though because this one here is despite (or maybe because) all the over-the-top moments very mediocre only. Story is as generic as it gets. Fighter goes up against super villain while falling in love with the main female character. Been there done that about a million times and I don't think either that this film here has a lot of attention to detail, if any, when it comes to the story. And the worst: It did not even get me hungry. Mission failed and I'm glad it is this short. Don't come back Mr Ching.
