The real first episode of the superhero team up of DC characters, this "Invasion!" offers lots of fun with so many superheroes together, and very nice dynamics between all of them, but a plot that is a little bit under-cooked overall.
Barry has gone around assembling as many heroes as he can: he has got Supergirl from another universe, the Green Arrow, White Canary, Speedy, Firestorm, the Atom, Heat Wave... because some aliens have come to Earth and don't seem to have very good intentions. The new super- team will try to mesh up as fast as possible as the aliens don't seem to be too friendly. Will they be able to stop the invasion? What about Barry's relationships with Cisco and the other about his Flashpoint wanderings and all the time-lines change? Why do the aliens go and kidnap the president of the country when there are so many interesting things they could do?
That is first of the shortcomings of the episode: the kidnapping of the president and the aliens using it as a trap makes not much sense and it's boring. The other one is that with so many superheroes (and aliens) around, some characters don't get much screen time. Oh, and how come Cisco, as powerful as he is, is all the time sitting around, not joining the fight?
On the other hand, that the show is able to manage so huge a cast and give all of them good action scenes is a positive. Another one is that it still has time to advance the plot of "The Flash", with Wallace's story-line and the character's relationships. And the action is good and frantic, not giving the viewer a second of respite. And the ending leaves all open as our heroes get free from the alien's mind control but still need to stop them from... whatever they have come for.
To see all those heroes together with a common threat is lots of fun, and the show overcomes its minor quibbles without much difficulty. With so many cool characters, action and interesting arcs for everyone involved, "Invasion!" does for a lot fun.
