Warning: Spoilers
"Der Herr Karl" is an Austrian German-language television film from 1961, so this one has its 55th anniversary this year. It stars Austrain comedian Helmut Qualtinger playing the title character and the actor is also one of the writers of this little piece, which is always a good sign because then the contents usually fit the character. And overall, it is nothing too bad. This black-and-white one-man show only runs for slightly under an hour and that's perfectly fine. There were a couple funny moments, but even for such a short film, it lacked a bit in terms of the quality department. It is interesting to watch for how unique it is, but this is also the only real reason I can think of, maybe also for the way Austrians saw themselves 15 years after World War II. And it is 100% comedy really. All in all, I would not recommend it. Qualtinger isn't bad, but honestly you are not missing much if you skip it.
