"So ein Millionär hat's schwer" is an Austrian, German-language 90-minute movie from the late 1950s, so this one will have its60th anniversary soon. The writer and director is Géza von Cziffra, a very successful and prolific filmmaker from back in the day. And here he got to work with two of the biggest stars from German-language territory from around that era. Peter Alexander was in it for the romance mostly, with some comedy and drama elements (and the music of course), while the older Heinz Erhardt was 100% comedy as usual. It is a film in color and of course also with sound. Unfortunately, I must say the script is really generic and uninspired and there is nothing that makes this one stand out from the uncountable number of other German movies produced around that time. The main song we hear on several occasions is not bad, even if a bit empty, but kinda catchy. But nothing about the love story, comedy or story telling in general is memorable in here and it makes me a bit sad to see Erhardt wasted for something forgettable as this. He had no material at all to show us his great talent, but even his presence is already enough to elevate the material here, even if it's only from bad to forgettable. I give this one a thumbs-down. It certainly could have been much better. Don't watch.
