Joe Dante Remembers Twitch of the Death Nerve (2011)

*** 1/2 (out of 4)

This twelve minute featurette can be found on the Arrow release of Mario Bava's A BAY OF BLOOD. Director Joe Dante talks about the director's 1971 film, which went under various titles including TWITCH OF THE DEATH NERVE. Dante talks about what it was like seeing grindhouse pictures during that era and how you really had to search them out. He also talks at length about the Bava film but also the influence it had on a certain slasher as well as his first movie. Also discussed are the various titles and how the likes of Roger Corman would constantly change titles and try to pass a movie off as something new. If you're a fan of Dante or the film in question then you'll certainly enjoy this featurette. Dante is also fun to listen to so when he speaks you always are entertained by the stories and that's certainly the case here.
