Nydenion (2010)
4/10
90 minutes of mediocrity
1 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
And "Mediocre" is not actually something bad in the context of "Nydenion". This film really did not have a high budget, so making it past "weak" is already a success. The writer, director and lead actor is Jack Moik (probably not related to Karl) in here in this futuristic, 90-minute science fiction film. I must say I found none of the characters likable and that also includes Moik's main character. He was just too much of a hero to me, so perfect that it became boring and annoying. The female lead was probably more interesting as she had some shades to her character. The script still wasn't great and it also didn't help that almost none of the actors had experience in films before appearing in here. Germany is not prolific in terms of science fiction movies at all, so I guess we have to live with everything we get. However, it would be nice if it was something that looked less amateurish than this one. In some scenes you can clearly see that the actors played these not in the location we see them standing at in the film. All in all, only worth a watch for the biggest sci-fi fans and I cannot say this got me curious in upcoming projects by Moik. Not recommended.
