Two girls coming to ride horses find a man brutally murdered. Wallander gets the case and finds that this guy has been bilking gullible women for a long time. The police find themselves delving into the world of bondage and explore the implications of this. Linda is getting more and more introverted. She seldom smiles. Stefan mirrors her anger and begins to lose his objectivity. This is distressing to Wallander because he realizes how counterproductive such methods can be. One of the subjects is a neo-nazi woman and he is so full of venom that he can't conduct a civil interview with her. She clams up at this before confiding in Wallander. Sometimes there is justice done, but sometimes this is at a huge cost. One can hardly feel good about the result of this episode.
